A moon being posing with a moonowlith in the background, demonstrating the strange power of the triangular object in its hand. Acrylics on cardboard 18,8 cm x 25,2 cm 13,3 cm x 18,3 cm 7,3" x 9,9" 5,1" x 7,2"
A small portrait of a moon being. Oilpaint on wooden panel. 15,8 cm x 17,8 cm 6,1" x 6,9"
Portrait of a moon being in front of a dome city building, in the background, more of the domed city can be seen. Acrylic on cardboard 24,2 cm x 16,6 cm 18,4 cm x 13,3 cm 9,5" x 6,5" 7,2" x 5,2"
Moonfolk creating a new moonowlith. The tetrahedron in the hand of the right moon being seeming almost arcane. The moonowlith illuminating the rest of the scene as you can see the dome closing around it. The shards almost like claws as the deity sees the last of the unobscured sky. This triad is made in one piece and painted in a classical brown colour scheme. Oilpaint on MDF board 34 cm x 17,5 cm 13.2" x 6.65"
Where the moonowlith started. Just a simple fascination with a nightjar, a bulb in a glass. This all illuminating the scene around it. Inspiration to lunar domed cities. Acrylic on cardboard 26 cm x 30,3 cm 10.2" x 11.9"
A moonowlith in its most primal form. A mixture of female, a nightjar and a lightbulb. Seated inside a jar. Oilpaint on vellum 12,5 cm x 12,5 cm 7" x 7"
A lunar being presenting a moonowlith, behind the moonowlith a moonowlith lit dome city can be seen. Oilpaint on MDF panel 30 cm x 20 cm 12" x 7.75"
We look over the shoulder of a lunar being at what appears like a glass like spire. The being looks over its shoulder at us, judging? Oilpaint on MDF panel 19,6 cm x 27,3 cm 7.7" x 10.7"
A lunar being in meditation, seeming to stare into space, deep in thought. Meanwhile a bright light emits from a tower behind it. And a diamond shaped patchwork seems to be illuminated in the sky. Oilpaint on wooden panel 20,8 cm x 24,7 cm 8.2" x 9.75"
A moonowl tied to a terrible glass tower, surrounded by a maze of diamond shards obscuring the sky. It looks down, defied by science. Oilpaint on wooden panel 25,5 cm x 31,1 cm 10" x 12.25"
I would like to take you with to one of my most drawn out world to date.
One that came to be in the time I studied at the art academy.
The world of the Moonowlith, named after the glass towers upon which entities,
mighty owl-like lunar gods, are captured.
This is done to them by a folk, an alien race led by their cold rational logic,
helped by their arcane science which for less advanced civilisations would look like magic.
The beings themselves are small, their skin grey, their light sensitive large eyes clenched.
The only sensors opened up to the world are the gem like eyes on their head and chest.
The reason that they capture these beings on their towers is that the lunar entities are an efficient source,
for energy and light to power and illuminate their cities.
This is a reflection, an example and a warning for our society.
Yet it also holds another meaning for me personally,
and perhaps for others out there..

Graag neem ik jullie dan ook mee naar mijn meest uitgewerkte wereld,
eentje die is ontstaan in mijn tijd aan de kunst academie.
De wereld van de Moonowlith, genoemd naar de glazen toren waarop entiteiten,
machtige uilachtige maangoden, gevangen zitten.
